Abstract

Amblyseius swirskii Athias-Henriot (Acari: Phytoseiidae) occurs naturally in the basin of the Mediterranean Sea, feeding on nymphs of the whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius). During the year 2011, A. swirskii was detected for the first time in Argentina in the horticultural area of La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. In September 2016, the diagnostic laboratory from Cátedra Zoología Agrícola, FAZ-UNT received material from Bella Vista, Corrientes, Argentina, which was identified as A. swirskii. In this communication we present the first record of this species for the mentioned province.
